    Your signature

    How to sign a PDF

    1. Choose your PDF. Click the box above and pick the file. Its pages appear below; nothing is sent anywhere.
    2. Add your signature. Draw it with a mouse, finger or stylus, or type your name. Then click on the page where it goes. Use Add text to fill in names, dates or other fields.
    3. Position and save. Drag items into place, drag a signature’s corner to resize it, then click Save PDF and download. The file name ends in -signed.

    Good to know

    • This is an electronic signature, not a digital certificate. Your signature is added to the page as an image, like signing a printout. It doesn’t cryptographically seal the file, so it won’t show as a verified signature in Adobe Acrobat.
    • Typed signatures use a script font already on your device, so they look slightly different on Mac, Windows and phones.
    • Filling forms: Add text places your words on top of the page, so it works on any form, including scanned ones. It doesn’t fill the PDF’s own form fields. Text supports Latin characters only.
    • Reuse one signature as many times as you need; New signature replaces it. It isn’t saved anywhere and is gone when you close the tab.
    • The rest of the PDF is untouched. Pages aren’t redrawn, so selectable text and links stay as they were.

Your PDF and signature stay on your device

Most online signing services upload your document and a copy of your signature to their servers. Here, the pages are shown with the open-source PDF.js library and the signed file is built with pdf-lib, both inside this browser tab.

The page’s security policy tells your browser to block uploads, so neither the document nor your signature can leave your device even by accident. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the Network tab, and sign a file. How InTheTab works

You’ll also see a few small requests to Google Analytics. That’s our visit counter, and it never receives your files. Privacy policy

    Questions

Is a signature added this way legally valid?

In many countries a simple electronic signature like this is accepted for everyday agreements, but rules vary and some documents need a certified digital signature or a wet signature. If it matters, check with whoever asked you to sign.

Is it safe to sign a confidential PDF here?

Yes. The file is read and changed by your own browser and is never uploaded. We never get your files or text: the site has no accounts, and its only analytics, Google Analytics, counts visits without ever seeing what you add here.

Can I sign on more than one page?

Yes. Click Add signature again and click on another page. You can add as many signatures and text boxes as you like, and remove any of them with its × button before saving.

Do I need to install anything or sign up?

No. It runs in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android or iPhone. It’s free, there’s no sign-up and no watermark is added.
