How to split a PDF
- Choose your PDF. Click the box above and pick the file. It opens in this tab and shows how many pages it has; nothing is sent anywhere.
- Say what you want. Extract pages into one new PDF, split by ranges into one PDF per range, or save every page as its own PDF. Type pages like
1-3, 5, 8-. - Split and download. Download each file, or all of them at once as a ZIP when there’s more than one.
Good to know
- How to write pages: separate pages and ranges with commas.
8-means page 8 to the end, and-3means pages 1 to 3. - Extract follows your order. Typing
5, 1-3gives a PDF that starts with page 5, so you can reorder while you extract. - Pages are copied, not redrawn. Text stays selectable and searchable, and quality is unchanged.
- Password-protected PDFs won’t open. The tool says so. Remove the password with Unlock PDF first.
Your PDF stays on your device
Most online PDF splitters upload your file to their servers. Here, the pages are copied into new PDFs inside this browser tab, using the open-source pdf-lib library.
The page’s security policy tells your browser to block uploads, so the document can’t leave your device even by accident. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, watch the Network tab, and split a file. How InTheTab works
You’ll also see a few small requests to Google Analytics. That’s our visit counter, and it never receives your files. Privacy policy
Questions
Is it safe to split a confidential PDF here?
Yes. The file is read and split by your own browser and is never uploaded. We never get your files or text: the site has no accounts, and its only analytics, Google Analytics, counts visits without ever seeing what you add here.
How do I separate every page of a PDF?
Choose Every page and press Split PDF. You get one PDF per page, plus a ZIP with all of them.
Is there a page or file size limit?
There’s no fixed limit; it depends on your device’s memory. Very large files take longer, so keep the tab open until it finishes.
Do I need to install anything or sign up?
No. It runs in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android or iPhone. It’s free, there’s no sign-up and no watermark is added.
